A residency is a plan for turning members into missional leaders. As we have considered the kind of disciples we are making and desire to make as a church, we have studied Jesus's character and competency traits. Through that study, we have worked to communicate concisely “who” we are working to produce. This focus is not on activity alone but on transformation. We desire every member to be a daily abiding, regularly sharing, intentionally discipling force for good. We recognize that people are in different places and desire to create environments where accelerated growth can take place.

The Cowee Residency 1.0 is a missional leadership residency. This group will focus on character, missiology, and leadership. Those who desire to be a workplace missionary, grow in their understanding of who they are in Christ, or, to summarize quickly, be a force for (Kingdom) good where they live, work, and play are the ideal candidates for this group. The Cowee Residency 1.0 focuses on helping disciples become missional leaders. This will be accomplished through a hybrid learning environment in which residents work through an online platform to complete reading and assignments weekly, gather in person once monthly for interactive teaching and training, and engage together in hands-on ministry in our church and community. The residency will follow a college semester-type schedule with holiday and summer breaks from the training.
