The Baptist Men’s Wood Ministry Kick-Off is on Saturday, October 17, at Cowee Baptist Church.
Here is a message from our Brotherhood Director, Mike Johnson:
Good Day to you all, I hope you are enjoying this nice weather — not too hot and not too cold… but winter is coming, and it is time for us to have our FIRST OFFICIAL WORKDAY of the new season!
We will meet at the church Saturday ( Saturday, Oct 17! – this was moved up a week due to rain) at 8:30 AM back at the wood lot (pull around the lower lot and behind the church). We have a couple of jobs to do, and delivering firewood is one of them. I already have 5 requests, and I expect that number to go up before Saturday, so we need all the help we can get. Some of us will have other opportunities to serve separate from firewood delivery.
It is supposed to rain Saturday, but I pray it will hold off until we can get this firewood delivered. We will need your help to get this done in an efficient manner. If it looks like the rain will come earlier, I will contact you about alternate plans. But for now, please plan on being at the church wood yard Saturday morning and let us “serve the LORD with gladness”.
I saw in an old devotional booklet a quote from C.S. Lewis: “The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God”. The devotional said, “Our identity defines us, and it should guide us in how we live…you are His son. This should impact the things we think, say, and do.” Let’s do this weekend, in the name of Jesus! See you there!
