Acts 2 Flywheel - Give: Time, Talents, & Treasures

TIme
1% of your week (approx. an hour and a half) GATHERing (joining in worship).
1% of your month (approx. 7 hours) in GROUPS growing in community.
1% of your week (approx. an hour and a half) GIVE of your time in service to the local church.
TextGiving by using your talents to serve others in the church.
2% of your year (approx. 7 days) GOing on mission locally or globally.
At the center of it all is time with God daily.
5% of your day is about an hour.
Every day with God at the center - my challenge is for you to intentionally spend an hour a day in growth and connection-related intentionality with Jesus. Maybe some of you can spend more, but we believe that if you embrace the 5% life, you will be well on your way to growing and thriving as a follower of Jesus.
Maybe it is 15 minutes in the morning before the day in the Scriptures. Maybe it is followed by 15 minutes of worship music as you get ready for the day or a podcast on the way to work, and finished with 15 minutes in devotion at night. You will never regret building a life around time with Jesus.
TALENTS
Right after Jesus had stooped to wash the dusty, dirty feet of his disciples, he gave them a new commandment:
“Love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
Jesus’ actions and words, combined, present a picture of the kind of humility and love that distinguishes us as his followers.
God has saved us and made us a people, a family. Brothers and sisters in Christ, and given to each other to serve one another, in order to serve God.
"You may not think you’re held dear by many people or even anybody at all, but you are God’s treasured possession, you are dear to him, and he chooses to display his glory through you by preparing great things for you to do in his cause—works of service that reflect and reveal his love. That is why we serve. And being excited about serving the God who loves us in this way will leave us wanting to be equipped for serving. We get to serve the greatest of all masters. We are God’s people, who have the great honour and privilege of serving him, the church, and the world." Robinson, Steve. Serve: Loving Your Church with Your Heart, Time and Gifts (Love Your Church) (p15).
One of my favorite ways to think about where a person will thrive in service is below in the sweet spot tool. When you think about your passion, ability, and context, many times there is a place where those three come together, identifying what might be your "sweet spot" to service.

People also find great help in looking at spiritual gifting and a great tool for exploring that is provided free by Chip Ingram and his ministry. We will include resources for using that tool below as well.
Sometimes people can find themselves a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out what to do, but some good advice I heard is "do something." God will use it and through the process you will find a place where your gifts can impact others for His glory.

TREASURe
Giving is a tangible way to put God first and a key marker of spiritual growth.
Here is a great article answering the question: Should Christians tithe?
Take a step
The generosity ladder is a great way to take a step toward obedience in trusting God with our finances.
We believe generosity fuels the mission. When you give, you’re not only supporting the work of making disciples here in our community and the world but also shaping your own heart to treasure God above all else.
