Snow Day Devo Resources

Thanks for connecting online this beautiful snow day!

Here are a few questions for you, or you and your family to talk through today, following the message.

Read John 17:3 out loud.
Have each person explain it in their own words.
As you walk through the questions, think: “What would it look like for our family to know God better this week?

The Matt Emmons story shows that hitting the bullseye doesn't matter if you're aiming at the wrong target.
Emmons was one lane off on his target and missed a gold medal.

1. What are some things (maybe even good things) people can aim at that still cause them to miss the real target of knowing Jesus more and growing in their relationship with Him?

Application
What is one thing you could do to deepen your relationship with Jesus this week?

2. When circumstances force you to slow down, like losing power or internet, what do you notice you reach for first, and what does that reveal about your attention?

Application
Identify one time slot in your day where unimportant busyness could be replaced with prayer or Scripture.

The Holy Spirit directs our aim through prayer.
3. What does prayer look like in your life right now? Is it regular, rushed, or rare?

Application

Individual: Commit to starting your day in prayer. Ask God for His help as you start your day. Read God's Word and pray that the Holy Spirit helps you apply it in your life.
Family: Decide on one simple prayer rhythm this week, such as praying together before school, before bed, or at one shared meal.

The Holy Spirit conforms our hearts through the Word.
4. How are you currently engaging with Scripture as a family or as individuals?

Application:
Decide today when and where you will open God’s Word this week and do it intentionally.

5. How does a growing relationship with God shape the way we treat others at home, at school, or at work?

Application
Name one person you or your family can intentionally love, encourage, serve, or pray for this week.

Looking back at the message, ask this question honestly.
6. What am I aiming at right now?

Application
Take time for each person to share one way they want to realign their aim toward Jesus this week, and pray for one another before you finish.
